Hey everyone just a little update as to what’s going on in my life. It has been a grueling first half of second semester, but we are finally finished with the first 5 books of the Old Testament and enter the promise land tomorrow with the beginning of Joshua.
Outside of work I have been doing pretty good, though I have been feeling a little homesick off and on for about 2 weeks now. I am greatly encouraged by seeing your posts on my Facebook and getting to chat with some of you over Skype. It reminds me how fortunate I am to have such amazing people in my life who love a support what God is doing in me.
I haven’t had a ton of time to do other things, but when I do, I normally spend it talking with people on base. I have had an awesome opportunity working with some of the pastors who frequent the base’s computers. As you can imagine, the laptops they receive are not of the best quality. I have been able to repair a lot of them and have also helped them with some of their computer skills, which in turn helps them spread the gospel to the people in their communities.
It truly has been an amazing opportunity, as I have learned so much about the culture of the ‘colored’ community through them. The name ‘colored’ is a non-offensive term here and they actually take pride in being colored. It would also be good for me to note that in South Africa you have 3 communities; the black which are in power, the white who are a minority and the colored who are a mix of white, Indian, Asian, and black heritage.
My current plan has me coming home sometime in the beginning of July. When I come home, my plan is to work until April 2012, when I hope to be leaving for YWAM Montana to do a school of worship. Through this education I will be able to pursue my desire to work with youth either at home or on the mission field.
I really enjoy it when people ask me questions about the books that I am currently in and if you ever have questions about a scripture, I’m in as good a place as any to find an answer for yah.
Thank you again for partnering with me and investing in what God is doing in my life and others. Love you all.
