First Post

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to give you a quick update from South Africa. I arrived here on Thursday, after having been on a plane for 26hrs. The internet was down until last night or I would have written you sooner. My SBS doesn’t start until Monday, so I have been using the time to get used to my new surroundings.
Base life so far has been interesting. My first night of sleep was broken by what at first I could only surmise was a monkey, by the sounds it was making, but was later told was a pigeon. I don’t know of any pigeons that make this noise. It has been my alarm clock every morning so far. I am meeting many new and wonderful people of all nationalities, which is amazing, as Paso is somewhat sheltered. I have been told that the next township over is extremely poor with shanties for houses, though from where I live you would not know.
As far as the food goes my Grandma will be happy to know I am eating, and eating quite well. They love to eat. It’s not just the eating, but the fact that they have fellowship during the preparation, during the meal and after.
I am very excited about starting school, though I hear the first 3 weeks are the most intens,e with school running anywhere from 10-13 hours a day. We will have more time for ministry after the first 3 weeks are over. I will be posting pictures soon to my blog and Facebook. Until then please keep me in your prayers and thank you for making this life-changing event possible for me.

Love you all, Chad

P.S. You can text me at (347)-566-7283. It’s a California number, so don’t worry about crazy charges. I can only get the text if I am on my ipod, so I am sorry if my response is delayed.

Update: Sorry this was supposed to be up a while ago dont know what happened
